This mortar and pestle is high-fired stoneware and is super durable. It is dishwasher safe and food safe. The unglazed surfaces will continue to smooth out as it is being used. The clay is vitrified so it should resist holding on to flavors and aromas, but if it does, grind some white rice or salt in the mortar and it should remove any remaining flavors.

The mortar is 6 inches wide and 2 inches tall. The pestle is about 3 inches tall.
